Retaining Wall (Time Lapse) – Outdoor Living Tip of the Day

The sun is finally shining and this Outdoor Living project in Charlotte is completed. The retaining wall has been built and everything is mud free. The green Fescue grass sod vs. the recently dormant TifTuf Bermuda grass sod is a debate a lot of homeowners would voice their opinion on which is best. When two neighbors in Charlotte needed help with a dangerous broken wooden tall wall a Belgard Sheffield Diamond Pro 9D was recommended. After plenty of engineering work and much more, the Diamond Pro retaining wall system was the ideal choice for this large-scale project. With a rough-hewn face style, it gives landscapes substance and stability. As the wall is being built and backfilled with the proper material (based on the engineered design plans – all 57 stone) every two layers of wall block must have Geo-Grid layed flat from the front of the wall to the end of the backfill (in our case 10’ back). Geogrid is a geosynthetic material used to reinforce soils and similar materials. Most large retaining walls (over 5’ tall) require geogrid to be installed to help with the stability and erosion control of retaining walls over time.
